Jurimex Managing Partner Yuriy Krainiak acted as an expert in the web-conference “Regulation Specifics and Protection of Domain Name Rights in Ukraine” on the LIGA:ZAKON portal, which took place on April 27, 2010.
Within the Q&A session of the conference Yuriy Krainiak responded to the portal visitors’ questions concerning the following issues: the procedure of regulation and protection of domain names in Ukraine, possible ways of the rights’ protection and pretrial settlement of domain disputes, transfer of a domain name to another person under a contract, an appeal of domain registration, and other disputable mechanisms of domain name rights’ regulation and protection.
When commenting on his participation in the web-conference, the expert stated: “The outcome of the event proves that regulation and protection of domain name rights in Ukraine still remains new to not only a common Internet user, but also the majority of lawyers who deal with intellectual property and judicial disputes’ regulation. Unfortunately, the business in our country overlooks the importance of the Internet. However, the expansion of the public’s access to the Internet, and especially for a commercial purpose, may provoke the growth of interest in these problems and, consequently, give awareness of the necessity of their regulation by legislative, executive and judicial authorities.”
